Employer Bulletin January 2024

This Bulletin is part of an ongoing series by Kraeber Law Office to provide helpful hints about developments in the law that could be relevant to your business.

1.   The December 2023 Bulletin was our annual summary of new employment laws for 2024.  If you don’t have that, let us know.

2.   The increase in mandatory paid sick leave from 3 days to 5 is especially tricky for those employers that front-load on employees’ anniversary dates rather than January 1st.  Contact us.

3.   The IRS announced the standard mileage rate for 2024 is increased to 67 cents/mile.

4.   The Corporate Transparency Act imposes new significant reporting requirements for many companies starting in 2024.

5.   Many cities have local ordinances that impose greater pay and benefits for employees that work as little as 2 hours in those cities (examples include San Francisco, Oakland, Hayward, Fremont, and Santa Rosa).

Contact us with any questions or concerns. We’re here to help.
